As an avid College Football Fan I've never really had an issue with the current BCS system. I've heard all the complaints and rumblings about how it is unfair and should go to a playoff format. I was one to think nothing of it because usually the top 2 teams who made it deserved it. But after witnessing the so called flaws in the system this year, my views have changed. How can you penalize a team that goes the whole year and doesn't lose till the very end of the season. When you reward a team who lost in the beginning of the year to move up in the rankings.
Everyone is subject to a bad game but it shouldn't hurt them based on when they lose, a loss is a loss no matter when it is. The team who lost late in the season could very well be the best team in the country but because they lost at the end of the season their title hopes are shot. I know the playoff system whenever comes out may take a at least 5yrs to implement.
The playoff system could go either two ways, have the system a 4 team playoff top 4 teams in the AP & ESPN poll make it. Or use the current BCS formula and the top 8 teams make it, and the regular BCS bowls gets to host a playoff game. And the winner takes all, who knows if a playoff system will work or will get put into place but something needs to be done to increase the level of play and move viewers.
